Review: Deep Steep Organic Body Wash and Lotion

May 9, 2011

My apologies for packing two reviews into one entry, but these two products pair so perfectly well together, it just seemed to make sense! I was given these two products (both the grapefruit bergamot scent) as a present by a good friend of mine, and surprisingly enough I had never even heard of this company before. While I know mine was purchased in a local health food store in Texas, I was delighted to discover we carry Deep Steep’s entire line in my very own place of employment!

Price: $7.99 for body wash, $9.99 for lotion

Ingredients: body wash (organic and all natural) –

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Infusion of Organic Herbs; Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Coco Glucoside, Aroma (Organic and Wildcrafted Aroma Blend), Glycerin (Vegan), Caprylic Acid (Coconut Fatty Acid), Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Natural, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Organic Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid.

body lotion (also organic and all natural) –

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Infusion of Organic Herbs; Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Extract, Citrus Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate (Vegan), Glycerin (Vegan), Caprylic Acid (Coconut Fatty Acid), Aroma (Organic and Wildcrafted Aroma Blend), Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Natural, Organic Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate.

I love that the first ingredient in both products is Aloe Vera, one of the best things every for moisture and inflammation reduction of the skin – awesome!

Packaging: besides the fact that these products are in fact organic and all natural, my favorite thing about this line is the packaging. The company’s tag line is “Everyday Affordable Luxury”, which I think we can all appreciate and product directions are instead referred to as “Daily Beauty Rituals”. There area also various other humorous quips on the tubes which provide much appreciated shower-time entertainment. I don’t really understand though why each tube of product needs to be packaged within it’s own box…seems a bit wasteful to me.

Use: I doubt I need to explain to you bright readers how to use a body wash, but I find that gel body washes work best when used on a loofah. A small dab provides  ample cleanliness, although I do prefer washes with a richer and foamier lather. The smell of these products is absolutely incredible – fresh, clean and natural without being overpowering. Any body lotion is most effective when applied right after the shower (open pores), while the skin is still a bit damp (moisture retention). The lotion is very light weight but again, a small amount definitely does the trick.

Effect: The body wash is really refreshing and leaves you thoroughly clean, and the lotion is hands-down the best all-natural lotion I have ever used. I’ve actually never found a lotion that has left my skin so soft, and I am completely over the moon with the scent of this product.

Final Verdict: These products are both definite re-buys. I can’t wait to try more of their scents, although I will have a hard time bidding adieu to such a wonderful fragrance. I already have gifted a few of Deep Steep’s other products to family and friends…needless to say, I highly recommend it!

Thanks for reading!
